  • See below for a full breakdown.

Selecting your team

For each game select a squad of 7 starting players and 4 substitutes.

  • 1 Goalkeeper and 1 substitute Goalkeeper
  • 2 Defenders and 1 substitute Defender
  • 2 Midfielders and 1 substitute Midfielder
  • 2 Forwards and 1 substitute Forward

Your 7 starting players should be the players you think are most likely to play and accumulate the most points. Substitutes act as back-up in case any of your selected players do not play.

Player Restrictions

Depending on the number of fixtures included in a game, you may only be allowed to select a certain number of players from a Club. For example, a games’ rules may only allow you to pick a maximum of 2 players from each Club.

Picking your Captains

From your starting 7 you must nominate a Captain and a Vice-captain.

  • Your Captain's points total will be boosted to x2
  • Your Vice-captain’s points total will be boosted to x1.5

If your Captain does not play, your Vice-captain will be changed to your Captain and you will no longer have a Vice-captain.

If both your Captain and Vice-captain do not play, then you will not have a Captain or a Vice-captain meaning that none of your players’ points totals will be boosted.

Substitutes

If a player does not play, the substitute for that position will replace them. If the substitute in that position does not play, they will not be used and you will score no points for that player.

If all of your starting players in a position do not play, your substitute will replace one of the players and the other players will score no points.

If all of your starting players in a position do not play, and your substitute in that position also does not play, you will score no points for those positions.

Substitutes must replace players in the same position, a Defender cannot take the place of a Midfielder.

Deadlines

The deadline to submit your team is usually 10 minutes before the first fixture kicks off in a game. Deadlines can differ for each game and are subject to change.

Changing your team

Once you have entered a game, you can change your team as much as you want up until the deadline for that game.

Depositing funds

You can only deposit funds using a debit card, the use of credit cards are prohibited and will not be processed. You will only be allowed to deposit money if we have previously confirmed your age and identity.

Entering a game

To enter a game you must have enough available funds in your account to cover the entry fee.

If you have not paid or confirmed your lineup prior to the game deadline you will not be permitted to play.

Depending on the rules set by the game you are joining, you may be allowed to enter once or multiple times using the same account.

Once you have joined a game, you cannot withdraw or cancel your entry fee for any reason.

Admin Fee

Betmate charges an admin fee of 10% of the total pot as an administration fee.

For example, if ten users pay into a game which has an entry fee of £10, the total pot is £100. Betmate will take 10% of this amount, which is £10. The prize pool is the amount left after Betmate has taken its fee, which would be £90.

Winning and pot distribution

The winner(s) of a game will be the player(s) whose lineup scores the most points during the game.

The pot distribution can vary depending on the game rules, which will be set by the creator of the game. Some examples are:

  • “Winner takes all” - which means the player with the lineup that scores the most points during the game will be awarded the total prize pool.
  • A prize pool could be split amongst the top 3 players with the lineups that score the most points, with the first place taking 70%, second place taking 20%, and third place taking 10%.

What happens if multiple players finish on the same number of points

In the event where multiple players finish a game with an equal amount of points and finish in a place paid by the prize pool, any monies will be equally distributed amongst those players.

If the number of players who finish a game with an equal amount of points and finish in a place paid by the prize pool is greater than the number of places paid by the prize pool, then the prize pool will be combined and split equally amongst the number of players.

If multiple players finish in a position, they will also share the positions beneath them, meaning that multiple players can finish joint first, joint second and joint third. The player who finishes next would be regarded as finishing fourth, not second.

Some examples are:

  • If the game is “winner takes all” with a prize pool of £100 and 2 players finish with the most points, the prize pool will be shared equally, meaning each player will receive £50.
  • If the game is “winner takes all” with a prize pool of £100 and 5 players finish with the most points, the prize pool will be shared equally, meaning each player will receive £20.
  • If the game pays £100 for first place, £50 for second place and £30 for third place and 2 players finish with the most points, the players who finished first and second are both regarded as having finished joint first and joint second. The first and second place monies will be combined and shared equally, meaning that the players that finished in first and second place will receive £75 each.
  • If the game pays £100 for first place, £50 for second place and £30 for third place and 10 players finish with the most points, all 10 players are regarded as having finished joint first, joint second and joint third. The first, second and third place monies will be combined and shared equally, meaning that each of the 10 players will receive £18.

Withdrawing funds

You can only withdraw funds to a debit card, withdrawal of funds to a credit card is prohibited and will not be processed. You must have a minimum of £20 in your account for us to process a withdrawal.

Postponed fixtures

In the event that a fixture is cancelled, postponed or rescheduled, the players listed to play in that fixture will not be eligible to score points.

If there is a player in your lineup whose fixture is postponed, your substitute will take their place. If your substitute also does not play, then you will not accrue any points for this position.

If all fixtures in a game are suspended, then all bets will be voided and your account will be credited accordingly.

Incomplete fixtures

If a fixture is not completed, as long as the fixture lasts at least 60 minutes, we will treat the fixture as completed.

Scoring

During the gameweek, your players will be allocated points based on their performance in the Premier League.

Points are awarded for actions during the standard 90 minutes of a fixture, including stoppage time but excluding any extra time or penalty shoot-outs.
